Abstract: Desloratadine exerted anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects on CSU patients revealed by CRP. Patients' remission was synergistic to CRP attenuation emphasizing CRP relevance for CSU clinical assessment.

“…A study from Tunisia demonstrated a linear positive correlation between serum CRP levels and urticaria activity scores, and the authors revealed that the anti-inflammatory effects of desloratadine was correlated with serum CRP levels in CSU patients (Maouia et al, 2017). Ohtsuka (2010) found out that the elevated high sensitivity-CRP levels showed good response to oral cyclosporine therapy in CSU.…”

“…Numerous studies have established that patients with CSU may have elevated serum CRP levels, and CRP has been proposed to be a possible marker of disease activity, severity, and response to treatments particularly oral antihistamines in CSU (Kolkhir et al, ). A study from Tunisia demonstrated a linear positive correlation between serum CRP levels and urticaria activity scores, and the authors revealed that the anti‐inflammatory effects of desloratadine was correlated with serum CRP levels in CSU patients (Maouia et al, ). Ohtsuka () found out that the elevated high sensitivity‐CRP levels showed good response to oral cyclosporine therapy in CSU.…”

“…Blood levels of IgG-anti-FceRI, IgG anti-IGE, total IgE, IgE anti-self and other autoantibodies, and autologous serum skin testing are important [71-74]. There are recent data linking low basophil counts with more rapid resolution in children [75]. The clinical history should guide the need for additional tests, given the link to coeliac disease, rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes [76].…”

“…[ 23 ] We have previously found the involvement of oxidative stress in CSU pathogenesis. [ 24 ] One of the most important aspects of the current study is the improvement of patients' antioxidant status after taking desloratadine 5 mg daily revealed by antioxidant enzyme activities and TAS. Desloratadine was shown to exert a protective effect against oxidative stress in human erythrocytes.…”
