CrossRef Text and Data Mining Services

Abstract: The discipline of text and data mining (TDM) is growing in visibility in the scholarly research community. In May 2014, CrossRef launched CrossRef Text and Data Mining Services, which aims to alleviate the issues that text mining researchers encounter when trying to collect the corpus of content that they want to mine from the different publishers who have produced it. This article will discuss what the CrossRef service does, the problem that it is trying to solve and the current status of the rollout of the s… Show more

“…Data mining approaches can be applied at a variety of scales, from individual datasets to the entirety of the internet. For example, data mining software exists that allows for use of keyword queries to search all articles published by journals that are members of the Crossref association . Data and feature extractions and standardizations from individual published papers can be automated or performed manually to assemble datasets .…”

[110] Data and feature extractions and standardizations from individual published papers can be automated or performed manually to assemble datasets. [111] Within databases, the Saccharomyces Genome Database (SGD), as an example, has implemented a query builder that allows for rapid searches across gene identities, datasets, or publications.…”

“…It already adopted CrossMark (Check for updates) and FundRef (Funder registry) services provided by CrossRef [ 12 ]. Furthermore, text and data mining service is better to be adopted [ 13 ]. It has been indexed to Web of Science Core Collection as Emerging Sources Citation Index journal since 2015.…”
