Cross-Sections of Some (n,2n) Reactions Induced by Reactor Fast Neutrons

Abstract: Cross-sections for (n, 2n) reactions induced in 2S Na, "Mn, "As, 89 Y, 127 I and 185 Re by reactor fast neutrons have been determined using the 68 Ni (n, p) 58 Co reaction as a monitor. In addition the reaction 64 Fe(n, p) H Mn was studied. Good agreement between results obtained in different irradiations has been obtained. ZusammenfassungDie Wirkungsquerschnitte von (n, 2n)-Reaktionen, die mit schnellen Reaktorneutronen in 23 Na, 55 Mn, 75 As, 8 "Y, m I und 185 Re induziert worden waren, wurden mit Hilfe der… Show more

“…As flux monitoring reaction, S8 Ni(n, p) 68 Co was selected, because the cross-section of this reaction is supposed to be well known [5] and also because the reaction product B8 Co can be measured in the same samples as those of the reactions investigated. Furthermore, determination of chemical yield is not necessary, and errors due to possible inhomogeneity of the neutron flux are eliminated.…”
