Critical Solution Temperatures and Aniline Points of Some Butane Hydrocarbons

Abstract: A NUMBER of correlations of physical properties of hydrocarbons or hydrocarbon mixtures are based upon aniline points. In order to extend the usefulness of these correlations, aniline point data for various butane hydrocarbons are needed. Since necessary data were lacking in the literature, the current study was undertaken to determine the aniline points of some of the butane hydrocarbons.

“…The indices of the butanes in Table I were extrapolations from these observations. The aniline points of the butanes were observed prior to Ludeman's paper (31) and checked his values within Io. Propane was shown to lack an aniline point because its critical temperature is reached without mixing with aniline.…”
