Although significant advancements have been achieved in lead−tin (Pb−Sn) alloyed perovskite solar cells (PSCs), their power conversion efficiency (PCE) remains inferior to that of their Pb-based counterparts, primarily due to higher open-circuit voltage (V oc ) losses and lower fill factors (FFs). Herein, we report both perovskite top and bottom interfacial improvements by incorporating a facile fluorophenylethylammonium iodide (p-FPEAI)/ethyl acetate (EA) solution during the film crystal growth. Based on the analysis of perovskite crystallization, film growth, and strain relaxation, the mechanisms behind these interfacial improvements have been well understood. Furthermore, p-FPEAI could reduce the defect density and nonradiative recombination losses, thus attributing to the improved V oc and FF. Finally, the treated device achieved a PCE of 20.14% with a V oc of up to 0.84 V, which is among the highest reported values so far for Pb−Sn alloyed PSCs without additional precursor additives. In addition, the unencapsulated p-FPEAI-treated device maintained its initial efficiency of approximately 92% after being kept in a nitrogen atmosphere for 1 month, in contrast to the control device which retained only 30% of its initial value. Our findings provide a comprehension for understanding the effect of bulky cations as antisolvents on fabricating highly efficient Pb−Sn alloyed perovskite solar cells.

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have emerged as promising candidates in PV research due to their exceptional photovoltaic properties. However, the toxicity and environmental concerns associated with lead‐based perovskites have led to the exploration of lead‐free alternatives. In this study, the performance of lead‐free bismuth PSCs, specifically PSCs based on Cesium Bismuth Iodide (Cs3Bi2I9) and Methyl Ammonium Bismuth Iodide (MA3Bi2I9), is investigated. Numerical simulations using the solar cell capacitance simulator (SCAPS) are conducted to comprehensively analyze the influence of key parameters, including the band‐to‐band radiative recombination rate, the absorber layer defect density, the absorber layer/electron transport layer (ETL) interface defect density, the absorber layer/hole transport layer interface (HTL) defect density, operating temperatures, and series and shunt resistances, and to optimize the proposed PSCs accordingly. The simulation results demonstrate a significant impact of these key parameters on the performance of Cs3Bi2I9 and MA3Bi2I9 PSCs. The optimized Cs3Bi2I9‐based PSC exhibited notable performance characteristics, including a PCE of 13.81%, a Voc of 1.16 V, a Jsc of 18.14 mA cm−2, and FF of 65.51%. In contrast, the MA3Bi2I9‐based PSC demonstrated relatively lower performance, with a PCE of 11.82%, Voc of 1.14 V, Jsc of 18.06 mA cm−2, and FF of 57.33%. The study on the defect density at the interfaces revealed the performance of PSCs is predominantly influenced by defects at the front interface (ETL/Absorber) rather than the rear interface (HTL/Absorber). These results provide valuable insights for the experimental design and optimization of lead‐free bismuth PSCs.

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are usually modified and passivated to improve their performance and stability. The interface modification and bulk doping are the two basic strategies. Fluorine (F)‐containing materials are highly favored because of their unique hydrophobicity and coordination ability. This review discusses the basic characteristics of F, and the basic principles of improving the photovoltaic performance and stability of PSC devices using F‐containing materials. We systematically summarized the latest progress in the application of F‐containing materials to achieve efficient and stable PSCs on several key interface layers. It is believed that this work will afford significant understanding and inspirations toward the future application directions of F‐containing materials in PSCs, and provide profound insights for the development of efficient and stable PSCs.
