“…Some of the narratives from the interviews and focus groups are revisited in this article via critical narrative inquiry. In critical narrative inquiry, each shared story is understood to be purposefully selected and retold as an opportunity to make sense of the past, promote a particular representation of reality, and engage in social action.…”

“…This article draws from a broader study on the experiences of seven undergraduate, undocumented Asian and Asian American (Filipino, Indonesian, and Korean) students enrolled in public four-year institutions in California. This larger study employed a critical narrative inquiry methodology (Pino Gavidia & Adu, 2022) and used a five-part multi-phase process from 2021 to 2022. In the first phase, the researcher conducted semi-structured, informal conversations with each participant.…”

“…Moreover, kuwentos in kuwentuhan are not just stories, especially within a critical narrative inquiry methodology (Pino Gavidia & Adu, 2022). Kwentos or stories of participants are vehicles to access one's experience across time, space, and in relationship with others (i.e., temporal, spatial, and the personal-social; Clandinin & Connelly, 2000), which have been silenced and distorted through dominant majoritarian narratives (Strobel, 2001(Strobel, /2016.…”
