Critical Components of Biofilm Models for Engineering Practice

Abstract: Biofilm models are valuable tools for process engineers despite several uncertainties including the dynamics and rate of biofilm detachment, concentration gradients external to the biofilm surface, and undefined biofilm reactor model calibration protocol.
