“…Studies with cancer survivors identify that this population has a higher risk of developing PTSD, with 1.66 times more chances than individuals without a history of cancer (9) . The results presented in this study, which indicate a high level of PTG, especially in the dimension "appreciation of life," corroborate studies conducted with 540 Chinese patients undergoing treatment for lung cancer, which obtained an average PTGI-C score of 60.92 points (34) and with 65 women who have gone through breast cancer treatment, which found moderate to high levels of PTG in 88.5% of the sample (33) . These data reinforce the possibility of growth from facing adversities, such as cancer.…”

“…PTG is not about ending suffering (Kaye-Tzadok and Icekton 2022), nor about accepting the traumatic event itself, but rather about accepting the processes by which people assimilate and accommodate the contrast generated by the ACEs by re-establishing the perceptions that individuals have about themselves, and perceptions of the outside world, which results in a positive change (Quan et al 2022). PTG has been reported by people who have lived through adverse experiences such as illness (Devine et al 2010), childhood maltreatment (Mohr and Rosén 2017), breast cancer (Campos et al 2021), natural disasters (Jin et al 2014), and bereavement (Stein et al 2018). The psychological changes reported by individuals are based on three domains: greater openness to new possibilities and greater involvement in interpersonal relationships, change in perception of self and life in general, and spiritual change (Resende et al 2008).…”

“…O estrogênio tem grande ação no crescimento das células da mama, o que causa um aumento de modificações que consequentemente aumenta o risco de desenvolvimento do câncer . Campos, et al, (2021), diz que, parte do sofrimento das mulheres que tem CM se deve ao fato de que a mama é um órgão que tem grandes significados, sendo um símbolo de feminilidade, maternidade e sensualidade, por essas razões que há tanta comoção quando se descobre a doença.…”
