Creation of Superhydrophobic Coatings Based on MWCNTs Xerogel

Abstract: The creation of hydrophobic anti-icing and self–cleaning coatings is a relevant task for many industrial sectors. The potential field of application includes production of liquid and gas separators and filters, the field of textiles and clothing, construction and new materials, optical and microelectronic devices, the field of automobile construction and maritime shipping as well as energy and agriculture. The article suggests a new approach to the creation of superhydrophobic anti-icing coatings, by drawing p… Show more

“…This behavior is attributed to the hydrophobic nature of MWCNTs which demolish the water penetration into the polymer matrix. 66 The swelling behavior of the composite also displayed the same trend (see Figure 8b). The PAA membrane showed a swelling ratio of 313%, indicating an excellent wet dimensional stability.…”

“…The further increase of MWCNTs content showed a sharp decrease in water absorption, reaching 60 g/g for PAA9 membrane. This behavior is attributed to the hydrophobic nature of MWCNTs which demolish the water penetration into the polymer matrix 66 . The swelling behavior of the composite also displayed the same trend (see Figure 8b).…”

“…This area of research is attracting considerable interest within the scientific community. It should enable a deeper understanding of the fundamental processes occurring in atoms and molecules [ 9 ], and greatly enhance the study of biomolecules, nanosystems, and complex polyatomic structures [ 10 ], as well as of various dynamic processes [ 11 , 12 ]. Furthermore, these new techniques enable the stages of a chemical reaction, and the generation of higher harmonics [ 3 , 4 ] to be traced.…”
