Creating the African Digital Platform Play

Abstract

Fintech infrastructure in Africa has continued to evolve towards more resilient digital forms over the past decade. The chapter reviews various stages of the Ghanaian journey and the disaggregation into the pillars of innovation that the chapter identifies. Fintech is considered as only one of such pillars. The discussion touches briefly on AI, Big Data, Blockchain and other generic elements, which can be considered as arrowheads of change. The conclusion is that Platform Play is enabled by stitching together the various axes and multifaceted domains of digital and other forms of knowledge.
