“…The available output formats are linked to the markup language used and vary according to the tools employed. Covering the largest set of output formats and markup languages is the current challenge in developing literate programming that allows to compile html, Markdown and L A T E X documents (Jann, 2016(Jann, , 2017 and the MarkDoc command (Haghish, 2016a,b).…”

“…We will also mention less statistically oriented software (Python, Julia). Some papers and books have described and illustrated reproducible practices using specific software such as R (Meredith and Racine, 2009; Gandrud, 2015; Xie, 2015; Xie et al ., 2018), Stata (Gentzkow and Shapiro, 2014; Jann, 2016, 2017; Rodriguez, 2017), SAS (Lenth and Højsgaard, 2007; Arnold and Kuhfeld, 2012), Mathematica (Wolfram Research, Inc., 2008), and Python (Bilina and Lawford, 2012), but to the best of our knowledge, such a broad presentation of principles leading to better practices using different software, or no software at all, has not previously been undertaken. We emphasize here also that many of the practices and methods proposed in this paper can be implemented independently of researchers' usual practices, preferred software, or data confidentiality level.…”

“…webdoc does not provide specific tools for producing tables. However, you can use other programs such as listtex by Newson (2001) or esttab by Jann (2007) to write a table in HTML format and then add the result to your HTML document using webdoc append. Below is an example based on esttab (see figure 8 for the result).…”
