“…Percentage of vaccine acceptability in the current study was lower than reported by Garcia et al [ 14 ] who conducted an online survey study on 1515 patients in 150 randomly selected HD centers in the United States and found that about 80% of the patients were in favor of getting COVID-19 vaccine which is the same result of Andrian et al [ 21 ], whose study consisted of a paper-based survey of 159 MHD French patients. Our results are also lower than that stated by Arce et al [ 22 ] who investigated COVID-19 vaccine acceptance through a survey of general population in ten low- and middle-income countries and found that the acceptance levels ranged from 67 to 97%.…”

“…Elderly patients have 1.7 times higher acceptance of Covid-19 vaccine than non-elderly patients. It is similar to Andrian's study that elderly patients have a higher acceptance of Covid-19 vaccine [14]. Nevertheless, there are different terminology of elderly used in this study and Adrian's study.…”

“…Gender did not have a significant relationship with acceptance of the Covid-19 vaccine among hemodialysis patients (p-value = 0.913). This result is similar to Andrian's and Blanchi's study that gender did not have a significant relation with the acceptance of the Covid-19 vaccine [14,15]. But it contrasts with Garcia's study.…”

“…Inequities in COVID-19 vaccine uptake according to ethnicity and social deprivation have previously been reported for the general population 13 , with similar disparities also impacting past national vaccination campaigns in the UK 17 . While our study is among the first to explore variation in COVID-19 vaccine uptake in people with kidney disease, several surveys of haemodialysis patients and kidney transplant recipients in France 18 and the USA [19][20][21] have reported higher COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy among people with non-White ethnicity and those living in more deprived areas -findings consistent with the delayed vaccine uptake in these groups reported here.…”
