<span>The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed education worldwide. Learning that is usually done offline has turned into online learning to avoid the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The purpose of writing this article is to describe the latest and updated learning conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic. What kind of learning was carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic, was the learning effective, how was the learning outcome, and the challenges faced. The systematic literature review is used to find answers to this article's purpose by synthesizing 53 articles selected according to the criteria. The synthesis results found that online learning was carried out using video conference as a substitute for face-to-face meetings, discussions, exams, and learning feedback using supporting applications. The internet was the direct support. Most of the learning shows significant results. Learning outcomes cannot be concluded whether it is good or not. There are many challenges during learning. It indicates that the world of education is not fully ready to transform from offline learning to online learning. A standard platform for online learning and rules of learning is required to minimize negative impacts and pay attention to the socio-emotional aspect.</span>

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has challenged and almost completely disrupted the previous teaching system, based mainly on teachers’ and learners’ physical presence. This impact has forced educators to identify alternative learning models and begin utilizing new approaches, often without detailed analysis or thorough, systematic planning. The current literature review aims to reveal some of the greatest pedagogical challenges in remotely teaching psychiatry residents during the pandemic. This mini-review’s results may help in developing additional pedagogical techniques and key applications for educational activities to teach psychiatry residents, as well as to suggest directions for future psychiatry resident education.

Aberrant transcript usage induces homologous recombination deficiency and predicts therapeutic responses

BRCA1/2 mutations account for only a small fraction of homologous recombination (HR) deficiency (HRD) cases. Recently developed genomic HRD (gHRD) tests suffer confounding factors causing low precision in predicting samples that will respond to poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors and DNA damaging agents. Here, we present molecular evidence and clinical utility of transcriptional HRD (tHRD) that is based on aberrant transcript usage (TU) of minor isoforms. Specifically, increased TU of non-functional isoforms of DNA repair genes was prevalent in breast and ovarian cancer with gHRD. Our functional assays validated its association with impaired HR activity. Remarkably, tHRD detection based on the TU pattern of key genes was superior to gHRD or BRCA1/2 screening in accuracy for predicting the responses of cell lines and cancer patients to PARP inhibitors and genotoxic drugs. In particular, this approach demonstrated the capability to reflect functional HR status, particularly when applied to our cohort of olaparib users with acquired platinum resistance in ovarian cancer. Hence, the tHRD-based diagnostic tests are expected to broaden the clinical utility of PARP inhibitors.
