Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has provoked several changes in home care. Understanding home care nurses' experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic plays an essential role in home care management.Objective: This study aimed to explore and articulate the experience of home care nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain.Design: A qualitative study using hermeneutic phenomenology was carried out. Twenty home care nurses were interviewed by teleconference between January and March 2021. Interviews were audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed using qualitative data analysis software.Results: Three main themes with five subthemes emerged from the data analysis: (a) "The effect of COVID-19 pandemic on home care," with the subtheme "the reorganization of home care nurses' competencies"; (b) "The role of telehealth in home care," which included the subthemes "home care nurses' satisfaction with telehealth" and "barriers to implement telehealth in home care"; and (c) "Effects of the pandemic on home care nurses' lives," including the subthemes "working in a pandemic is emotionally draining" and "the continuing fear of infecting others."Discussion: The findings from this study demonstrate the profound effect that home care has experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Home care nurses' competencies were modified to care for and diagnose COVID-19 patients. Face-to-face home care was replaced by telehealth. All home care nurses experienced physical and psychological symptoms and the fear of infecting others.

“…Es relevante considerar la escasa cantidad de Hospitales especializados con los que cuenta Honduras, lo que provoca el colapso de estos centros de manera recurrente, quienes por lo general cuentan con una ocupación de más del 70%, lo cual aumentó notablemente durante la pandemia 19 , lo que podría explicar el aumento en el número de muertes, ya que fue necesaria la creación de múltiples centros de triaje en el país, así como el apoyo de centros asistenciales privados, para controlar los casos severos. Existen varios estudios donde se analiza los casos y muertes confirmadas por COVID-19 en los primeros meses de la pandemia, datos que difieren a la situación reportada en Honduras, en donde los registros son mucho menores [20][21][22][23] , sin embargo, se deben tomar en cuenta las diferencias políticas, económicas, culturales presentes en cada país, así como las fechas de corte utilizadas en cada estudio. El COVID-19 es una enfermedad infecciosa responsable hasta la fecha de 6,369,703 muertes a nivel mundial. Para poder controlarla es importante adaptar y reforzar los sistemas nacionales de salud y ampliar las capacidades en materia de vigilancia, siendo el reporte diario de nuevos casos y muertes por COVID-19, una de las principales herramientas para comprender y dar respuesta a la pandemia. El trabajo se centró en identificar inconsistencias en los datos reportados sobre casos y muertes confirmadas de COVID-19, por el sistema de salud hondureño durante el año 2020. Se analizaron los datos oficiales publicados entre el 11 de marzo y el 31 de diciembre de 2020, por el centro de recursos coronavirus de la Universidad Johns Hopkins, los datos fueron divididos en cuatro segmentos de análisis, el primero correspondió a los primeros 50 días de pandemia en el país, el segundo incluyó datos hasta el 24 junio, el tercero hasta el 1 diciembre y el cuarto incluyó todos los datos del 2020. Para el análisis se hizo uso de la ley de Benford, el cual es un fenómeno estadístico ampliamente usado que permite detectar datos anómalos en los sistemas de vigilancia de cada país. Hasta el 31 de diciembre el sistema de salud hondureño confirmó 121,827 casos positivos y 3,130 muertes por COVID-19 en Honduras. Respecto a la detección de datos anómalos el segundo segmento de análisis obtuvo un mejor resultado, sin embargo, se observo que el análisis acumulado correspondiente al 2020 no se ajustó a la Ley de Benford. En general, la vigilancia tuvo una mejoría en el desempeñó después de los primeros 50 días de pandemia, no obstante, los datos referentes al 2020 revelan una disconformidad con la ley de Benford, lo que se interpreta como un desempeño de notificación no adecuado. In this sense, different organizations expressed their disagreement with the discredit of the notification system, with the non-existence of clear and agreed indicators, the insufficient capacity for early diagnosis and case follow-up, as well as the non-compliance with isolation measures and quarantine among the civilian population [ 19 ]. This study analyzed the use of fifteen groups of digital tools that 197 active teachers made during the sudden shift to remote instruction due to the COVID-19 quarantine orders placed by various health departments in Spain and the United States. The study also examined the impact that the use of digital tools had on teachers’ perceived self-efficacy. A quantitative research design was used, supported by an exploratory descriptive approach that materializes in the application of an online questionnaire during the spring of 2020. The results indicate that perceived self-efficacy differs from country of origin and is conditioned by sociodemographic variables such as the training received and type of center. It is noted that teachers in Spain prefer the use of Moodle or Escholarium over that of teachers in the United States that opted for Google Classroom as a primary platform for teaching online, and the frequency of use of digital tools analyzed does not guarantee that their implementation is effective.
