Cover Feature: Segregated Protein–Cucurbit[7]uril Crystalline Architectures via Modulatory Peptide Tectons (Chem. Eur. J. 59/2021)

Abstract: From the drawing board to the product, crystalline protein assemblies with alternating compact and porous layers were obtained. Trimeric protein RSL, with pseudo‐C6 symmetry, forms honeycomb assemblies in the presence of cucurbit[7]uril. A coiled‐coil fused to the N terminus of RSL re‐forms the honeycomb assembly but with poorly packed spacer layers. Such bio‐supramolecular tectonics could serve the development of biomaterials.
