Abstract:The Cover Feature shows the photoelectrochemical activation of C−H bonds with mesoporous SnO2 electrodes sensitized with a quinacridone dye (pigment violet 19, used in paints). The key feature of quinacridone is the possibility to operate through a proton‐coupled electron transfer mechanism, generating a nitrogen‐based radical characterized by a bond dissociation free energy (BDFE) of 80.5 kcal mol−1 and capable of hydrogen atom abstraction from allylic and benzylic C−H bonds. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
