Covariance of CMB anomalies

Abstract: consumption by identifying milk from infected animals. Furthermore, the somatic cell count (SCC) in milk is used to monitor general udder health as a means of health improvement. As a result, measurement of SSC is one of the most frequently applied measurements made on milk. For general schemes, SSC is usually measured by optical instruments that detect and count fluorescently stained cells. The instruments are calibrated using reference samples that are counted using the reference method. This bulletin reports… Show more

“…An existing body of literature also explores connections between different anomalies. For example, Muir et al (2018) [18] investigate the covariance between various anomalies. Polastri et al (2015) [19] study the connection between directional anomaly of low multipole alignment and dipole modulation.…”

“…After these four new parameters we include the best-fit values of the four standard parameters: the dimensionless rescaled Hubble scale h, the spectral index n s and amplitude A s of the fiducial PPS (1), and finally the reionization optical depth τ (which is computed as a derived quantity from the best-fit values). To complete the tables we add the LRT statistics Γ defined by (16) and (in the last column) the p−value γ defined by (18). To the last column we add (in round brackets) the probability γ translated into the corresponding number of one-dimensional Gaussian standard deviations, and also (in square brackets) the number of extra degrees of freedom.…”

“…Besides the low power at large angular scales, other so-called anomalies have also been considered (see for example Ref. [18] for a summary of these anomalies and tests of their statistical significance). While statistical analysis of "anomalies" can shed light on their significance, these a posteriori methods tend to overestimate the significance 1 .…”

“…Note that, in turn, this procedure provides the minimum number of rotations which are needed to fullfill the requirement 8 The smoothing is applied in order to minimise aliasing effects when going from real to harmonic space and vice versa. 9 In other words, we apply Nrot times Eq. (A.1).…”
