“…reported that the initial anti‐GAD was 129 Units, and the average reduction of anti‐GAD by one IA treatment was only 9.4% . The inconsistency of the results of percent reduction of anti‐GAD in two reports was speculated to be due to the difference of the anti‐GAD measurement procedures . The present study is the first report that investigates the removal kinetics of anti‐GAD by various plasmapheresis modalities and the circulating anti‐GAD dynamics during IA therapy in neurological disorders.…”

“…Follow-up sera were available for 4 of the glima 38 antibody positive subjects (Table 1: U38, U47, U76, U9). One of these patients (U76) underwent plasmapheresis and purified immunoglobulin G (IgG) from one treatment was used to prepare an immunoaffinity resin for glima 38 (Table 1: U80; [18]). The purified IgG fraction is positive for ICA, insulin autoantibodies IAA, GADA and IA-2A and has a concentration of IgG fivefold lower than in the patient's original serum sample (U76; data not shown).…”

“…Using different antibodies this technology has been used to eliminate autoantibodies and immune complexes from plasma. Pilot studies have been performed in newly diagnosed diabetes mellitus type 1 (14) and dilatated cardiomyopathy (15,16).…”
