“…We note that single structure configuration as in 27 and 38 or the use of pure fluids 38,44,45 did not allow for the wide range of interactions and the regime map further extended and proposed in this work, of eventual concern to wider range of applications and communities. Future work suggests adopting other experimental techniques and characterisation such as internal total reflection 64 and electrochemical impedance 65 as well as other binary mixtures 66 to better elucidate the intimate interactions between the wide ranges of surface tension fluids and solid structures presented in this work. Moreover, from the physics, physical chemistry and thermodynamics point of view the analysis of the different wetting regimes presented here as a function of the surface tension of the fluids and the surface structure in terms of surface energy as in 51,67 , and 68 , deserves further effort from the scientific community.…”

“…A wetting volatile binarymixture drop, i.e., one with two components might be expected to show a behavior intermediate of its constituents. It has been shown that solutal Marangoni flows can enhance or inhibit the spreading [19][20][21], leading to deviations from spherical-cap shapes in microliter multicomponent drops [3,5,6,22], where the influence of gravity cannot be ruled out a priori [14,15]. However, it remains unclear whether such shape deviations can be observed at smaller scales, where surface tension forces dominate.…”
