Coupling Analysis and Performance Study of Commercial 18650 Lithium-Ion Batteries under Conditions of Temperature and Vibration

Abstract: At present, a variety of standardized 18650 commercial cylindrical lithium-ion batteries are widely used in new energy automotive industries. In this paper, the Panasonic NCR18650PF cylindrical lithium-ion batteries were studied. The NEWWARE BTS4000 battery test platform is used to test the electrical performances under temperature, vibration and temperature-vibration coupling conditions. Under the temperature conditions, the discharge capacity of the same battery at the low temperature was only 85.9% of that … Show more

“…(2) the observations of the samples are independent; and (3) the scale of measurement of the dependent variable should be at least ordinal [50]. This non-parametric statistical test has been used by many researchers [51][52][53], most commonly in behavioural sciences [54]. It is utilised in this study with the aim of gaining greater insight into the factors that may influence the public acceptance of the ban on diesel vehicles.…”

“…In reference [15], mechanical stress induced by vibration like in the case of EV crash, is a major concern of LIB safety in EVs response to such stress. According to the reference [9], the EVs are faced with road-induced vibrations which affect both the system's electrical performance and mechanical properties, as cell consistency deteriorates with vibration stress [6]. For these reasons, various control mechanisms should be employed to eliminate noise and harshness, as well as creating an equitable driving environment for EVs.…”

“…The experimental results show a significant difference in degradation of batteries depending on the types of test cycles for different types of batteries. An interesting research from the vehicular technology standpoint tests lithium-ion batteries under different temperature conditions, vibration frequencies and vibration directions [17]. NCA batteries were used in the tests and the results indicate that battery characteristics are significantly more affected by the ambient temperature than the road vibrations.…”

“…1 Battery capacity rated at 1C means that a fully charged battery rated at 1 Ah should provide 1 A for one hour [21]. [9], [10], [13] Modelling based on experimental testing [11], [12], [14], [15] Experimental testing and evaluation of one batteries [16], [17], [18], [19], [22], [23], [24], [25], [26] Two different test benches are used in the experiments described in [23], one for the tests in the steady state, and the other one under the dynamic operation conditions. Battery electrical characteristics, capacity-temperature dependence, ageing effects and energy storage efficiency under different currents and the dynamic performance are evaluated.…”
