Couples' experiences of predictive testing and living with the risk or reality of Huntington disease: A qualitative study

Abstract: A qualitative study, based on family systems theory, was undertaken in order to gain a better understanding of the impact of predictive testing and of living with the risk or reality of Huntington disease (HD), on couple relationships. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 14 couples; in 9 couples the at-risk partner had undergone testing, and of these, 4 were already affected with HD.
