Coupled-channel Dπ, Dη and D s K ¯ $$ {D}_s\overline{K} $$ scattering from lattice QCD

Abstract: We present the first lattice QCD study of coupled-channel Dπ, Dη and D sK scattering in isospin-1/2 in three partial waves. Using distillation, we compute matrices of correlation functions with bases of operators capable of resolving both meson and mesonmeson contributions to the spectrum. These correlation matrices are analysed using a variational approach to extract the finite-volume energy eigenstates. Utilising Lüscher's method and its extensions, we constrain scattering amplitudes in S, P and D-wave as a … Show more

“…Here, a large basis of operators is constructed and used at both source and sink to create a matrix of correlators, which is then diagonalized to produce the best overlap onto the true eigenstates of the system. This method has been used extensively and very successfully in the mesonic sector [17][18][19][20][21][22][23]. One of the benefits of this method is the symmetric nature of the correlation functions, which renders the correlators positive definite and greatly reduces the potential for false plateaus.…”

“…These have previously been studied in [11], assuming elastic Dπ-scattering. More recently, the Hadron Spectrum collaboration studied coupled channel Dπ, Dη, D s K scattering in [15]. They employed lattice gauge configurations with multiple lattice volumes at a pion mass of 391 MeV.…”

“…At this pion mass they observe a shallow J P = 0 + bound state, and a narrow J P = 2 + resonance. For more details please refer to [15].…”

“…The HSC have recently investigated I = 1/2 coupled-channel Dπ, Dη, D sK scattering with light-quark masses corresponding to m π ≈ 390 MeV on three lattice volumes: L ≈ 1.9, 2.4 and 2.9 fm using respectively 479, 603 and 553 configurations [47]. Figure 3 shows the S-wave scattering amplitudes constrained by 47 energy levels-the broad feature in the Dπ → Dπ amplitude is associated with a J P = 0 + bound state very close to Dπ threshold.…”
