Coupled channel analysis of p annihilation into π0π0π0, π0ηη and π0π0η

Abstract: We con rm the existence of the two I G (J PC ) = 0 + (0 ++ ) resonances f 0 (1370) and f 0 (1500) reported by us in earlier analyses. The analysis presented here couples the nal states 0 0 0 , 0 0 and 0 of pp annihilation at rest. It is based on a 3 3 K{matrix. We nd masses and widths of M = (1390 30)MeV , ; = (380 80)MeV and M = (1500 10) MeV , ; = (154 30)MeV , respectively. The product branching ratios for the production and decay i n to 0 0 and of the f 0 (1500) are (1:27 0:33) 10 ;3 and (0:60 0:17) 10 ;3 … Show more

“…The conclusion about the f 0 (1370) agrees with results of the work of the Crystal Barrel Collaboration [33] where the f 0 (1370) is identified as the ηη resonance in the π 0 ηη final state of thepp annihilation at rest. This also explains well why one did not find this state considering only the ππ scattering process [4].…”

“…According to the "Note on scalar mesons" in the 1996 edition of the RPP [1], the works that triggered the "resurrection/confirmation" of the σ were not dispersive analyses nor made any analysis in terms of ChPT, but they were re-analyses of ππ S-wave scattering within relatively simple phenomenological models [16,18,66,67,68,69] together with newer analyses of pp → 3π data [70,71] (which claimed to demonstrate that the σ and the f 0 (1300) were two different poles). Unluckily, as nicely remarked in that "note on scalar mesons", there was a "large spread in the resonance parameters obtained by these groups" which was "due less to differences in the data used than to differences in the models employed".…”

“…An analysis of these channels, partly as a coupled-channel analysis using the K-matrix formalism [13,14,15], further constrains the masses and widths of these resonances: The properties of the a 0 (1450) make it likely to be the qq isovector state of the scalar nonet that contains the well-established K * 0 (1430). The a 0 (1450) would thus replace the a 0 (980), which is probably a KK molecule rather than a qq state.…”
