Cottonseed oil in diets for growing broilers

Abstract: -The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of three levels of crude cottonseed oil on performance, organ weights, and blood parameters of growing broilers. Carcass and cut yields after 33 and 42 days of age and the economic viability of the diets were also evaluated. “…The presence of cyclopropenoid fatty acids (CFA), which consist of malvalic and sterculic acids (Hendricks, Sinnhuber, Loveland, Pawlowski, & Nixon, 1980), in CSO has been reported to adversely affect production performance and inhibit the desaturation of saturated fatty acids (SAFA) (Raju & Reiser, 1967).
