Cotton Introgressive Lines Assessment Through Seed Cotton Yield and Fiber Quality Characteristics

Abstract: The conducted study, with focus on the earliness and opening rate of bolls, and other economic traits of introgressive cotton lines, was carried out from 2017 to 2019 at the Institute of Genetics and Plant Experimental Biology, and Genetics and Evolution Biology Department, in Chirchik State Pedagogical Institute, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Overall, the introgressive cotton lines were found to ripen two to 13 days earlier than a standard cotton cultivar C-6524. Particularly, in line L-РСМ, the vegetation period too… Show more

“…Moreover, the possibility of resistance development of targeted species and potential emergence of challenges from currently less important pests need to be seriously considered through integrating appropriate resistance management strategies [47,48]. Te health benefts of Bt cotton due to signifcantly reduced insecticide use are an added beneft to the growers over the non-Bt cotton varieties that require extensive chemical insecticide application [31,32,49].…”

“…However, these values Family-8 and Family-13, included in this cluster, appeared closer to each other. Past research revealed that interspecific hybridization performed better in the creation of cotton hybrids for better seed cotton yield and fiber quality traits (Amanov et al, 2020(Amanov et al, , 2022Muminov, 2022).…”

“…Currently, developing new cotton cultivars use various techniques of hybridization. Numerous scientific studies undertook identifying and transferring of the traits of precocity and resistance to different pests and diseases to cultivated cultivars, with significant improvement achieved in cotton crops (Campbell et al, 2010;Rizaeva et al, 2016;Amanov et al, 2020Amanov et al, , 2022Muminov, 2020Muminov, , 2021Muminov, , 2022. Past studies revealed the research work on various farm-valuable traits like yield, seed index, fiber yield, fiber index, and fiber length and strength in many species and subspecies of cultivated diploids and tetraploids of cotton and obtained tangible results (Singh and Singh, 1984;Sandhu et al, 1987;Sandhu, 1989;Deshpande et al, 2001;Narula et al, 2001;Kulkarni et al, 2003;Singh et al, 2003).…”

“…In the 21st century due to enhanced population, it is obligatory to increase the production of safe, high-quality, and healthy food to overcome hunger and malnutrition (Amanov et al, 2020(Amanov et al, , 2022Buronov and Xamroev, 2022). Particularly in Uzbekistan, it is necessary to use the available resources to ensure the guaranteed supply of food products to the population, further increase productivity through applying modern scientific approaches, and create food types resistant to diseases and pests (Fayziev et al, 2020;Ramazonov, 2020;Ramazonov et al, 2020;Sobirova et al, 2020;Buronov et al, 2023;Muminov et al, 2023).…”
