“… Nasseri et al (2021) found that UV successfully disinfected Iranian wastewater treatment plants with SARS-CoV-2. However, well-maintained activated sludge processes may have enhanced disinfection effectivity, which may be expensive for other developing countries ( Craggs et al, 2014 ; Arif et al, 2020 ; Nasseri et al 2021 ; Serra-Compte et al, 2021 ). Additionally, temperatures higher than 40°C are needed for UV through solar stills to effectively inactivate SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater ( Parsa, 2021 ; Parsa et al, 2021 ).…”

“…Economic simulations and calculations of treatment plant operating costs have been performed using CapdetWorks2.5 software. shows the degree of consistency and incompatibility of the decision [2]. The method is based on a hierarchical structure to assist the analyst in managing critical aspects of the problem, within a tree-like hierarchical structure that reduces complex decisions to some simple comparisons and rankings [12].…”

“…The purpose of using the analytic hierarchy process is to identify reference options as well as determining their ranking by considering all decision criteria simultaneously [2]. This analysis is a fl exible and quantitative method for selecting options based on their relative performance over a number of criteria.…”

“…Membrane bioreactor (MBR) has gradually become a widespread technology to treat domestic wastewater (DWW) by virtue of its small footprint and high-quality effluent. Nevertheless, membrane flux in the conventional MBR treating DWW is realistically limited to be around 15–25 L/m 2 ·h (LMH), resulting in higher specific energy consumption (kWh/m 3 ) in a MBR than that in a conventional activated sludge process. ,, Thus, the flux enhancement of MBR has been of strong interest to researchers and engineers for saving energy and costs. However, the high-flux operation of MBR remains a major challenge in its industrial applications at the expense of severe membrane fouling. , Membrane fouling would incur more operational costs and shorten the membrane lifespan due to intensive membrane cleaning methods .…”
