This hypothesis is supported by numerous reports (Askanas et al, 1986;Braun et al, 1989;Guerriero and Florini, 1980;Kaplan et al, 1990;Misra and Entrikin, 1988;Brown, 1991), although Hardiman et al (1992) found that PDN inhibited myogenesis in muscle cultures in six of eight Duchenne/Becker patients. This result is, however, tentatively explained by the authors, who among other hypotheses, suggest that the stimulating effect of PDN takes place at an early age.…”
