Corrosion resistance of V-4Ti-4Cr alloy in convection flow of eutectic Na-K alloy

Abstract: The corrosion resistance of V-Ti-Cr alloys in contact with a eutectic Na-K melt have been eval uated from experiments on the compatibility of V-4Ti-4Cr alloy specimens with a convection flow of the Na-K eutectic. In the test system made of the same vanadium based alloy, the maximum temperature was 650°C, the temperature drop was 150°C, and the duration of the tests was 500 h. The experiments have shown that, under the conditions of the tests carried out in the Na-K eutectic with an initial concentration of oxy… Show more

“…Obviously, simultaneously with the processes of dissolution of solid metals A1 and A2 in liquid metal, the atoms of these metals will be deposited on the surface of solid metals. It is known [5,8] that as a result of these processes, the chemical composition of the surface of both materials is equalized. In the most common case, both dissolved metals form solid solutions during precipitation.…”
