2,3‐Diaryloxirane‐2,3‐dicarbonitriles have employed in heterocyclic synthesis in many organic reactions. Authors highlight its use as intermediate in the synthesis of various organic compounds through the reaction with different nitrogen nucleophiles as methyl hydrazine, thiourea, thiosemicarbazide, methylglycinate, and others to furnish new heterocyclic derivatives. They are also used as key starting materials to construct some important heterocycles. Structures of all newly synthesized products are substantiated by studying their micro analytical and spectral data. Some of newly synthesized compounds were evaluated for their in vitro cytotoxic effects against a panel of three human tumor cell lines, namely, Hep‐G2, Hela, and MCF‐7. Most of the newly synthesized compounds (1a, 2a, 2d, 3, 4, 5, 6a, 6c, 6d, 7a, and 7b) inhibited cell proliferation with IC50 values in range of 0.52–5.21 μΜ. For activity against HepG2 cell line, compounds 5, 6a, 6d, and 7b emerged as the most active members. The Hela cell line showed highest sensitivity toward compounds 2a, 2d, and 6c whereas compounds 2d and 6c showed the highest inhibitory activity against MCF‐7 cell line.

The main problem in the rebar case is corrosion, which is caused by the penetration and diffusion of chloride ions into reinforced concrete structures; therefore, it is essential to give the most attention to preventing or limiting the impact of this condition. So, in order to find a practical solution to the problem of corrosion of rebar, the current article focuses on demonstrating the beneficial effects of green and calcium nitrate inhibitors on chloride-induced corrosion. Thus, this paper presented an analytical procedure based on corrosion rates and the economic cost to evaluate the efficacy of such an inhibitor. Ten samples with various concrete mixtures were divided into two groups according to the type of plasticizer and inhibitor have been immersed in an aqueous solution of 3.5 wt. % sodium chloride at room temperature for 18 months. The optimal results in which the corrosion rate was significantly reduced were for the two groups of concrete mixtures, first group was (C2) which contains 3 wt.% orange peels extract inhibitor mixed with 2.4wt.% Oxydtron as water-resisting admixture, and second group was (E2) included 3 wt.% calcium nitrate inhibitor with 2.4wt.% Oxydtron as water-resisting admixture. These two groups samples have been showed more excellent corrosion resistance against the saline solution after the completed immersion period. The inhibition efficiency analysis showed that there is a direct relationship between the inhibitor concentration and the efficiency of corrosion inhibition. However, the inhibition efficiency in case of samples containing calcium nitrate inhibitor was higher than their counterparts containing green inhibitor extract. Finally, the economic cost analysis showed that, the cost of the green inhibitor extract-containing samples was lower than that of the calcium nitrate inhibitor-containing samples.

Metals and alloys are pre-eminent and important materials for the construction and fabrications of material. The destruction of metals is a usual and unavoidable process but my opting suitable measures it is controllable. Corrosion is impossible to eliminate but on implementing certain remedies we can control to some extent. Usage of the inhibitors for corrosion is one of the controlling measures used widely. Many corrosion inhibitors are banned due to their environmental hazards and toxicity they create. It leads to making use of naturally occurring extracts of plant materials. Natural corrosion inhibitors are nontoxic and environmentally friendly. This review article provides a detailed account of natural products as corrosion inhibitors in various corrosive media which are making use for the last few decades.
