“…Rodrigues et al reported that Al possessed the lowest I corr of 1.59 × 10 –7 A cm –2 in neutral NaCl solution rather than in acid and alkaline solutions and the antierosion of Al could be improved through adding tannin in the solutions. It was also reported that the steel and copper exhibited higher anticorrosion performance in HCl solution with higher concentrations of 2-ethyl phenyl-2, 5-dithiohydrazodicarbonamide. However, the electrolyte solution characteristics are not considered in the conventional models for the prediction of corrosion, and thus it cannot accurately predict the corrosion behaviors of metals. , For example, the predicted I corr values (7.24 × 10 –3 A cm –2 @ pH = 1) of hypereutectic high chromium cast iron were much higher than the measured data (2.57 × 10 –6 A cm –2 @ pH = 1).…”

“…Copper is a metal widely used in different fields by virtue of its excellent electrical conductivity, heat, ductility, and other characteristics, such as electrical, light industry, machinery manufacturing, and defense industry. It is very easy for electrons to be lost and be corroded in the process of use due to their activity, leading to the destruction of the metallographic structure of copper, thus affecting its use value and bringing economic losses and potential dangers . In industrial production, in order to save costs, we usually use some strong acidic solution to wash the copper to remove the corrosion-induced oxides on the copper.…”

“…Furthermore, pi electroncontaining compounds with functional groups such as -N=N, -C=N, and ˃NH often exhibit corrosion properties (8,9). N-and S-heterocyclic compounds are the best corrosion inhibitors for copper in alkaline environments (10)(11)(12). Organic chemicals have a long history and are by far the most advanced and economical tool employed by manufacturers.…”

“…The compound 4-fluorophenyl-2,5dithiohydrazodicarbonamide (FTSC) was synthesized and investigated in our previous work as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel (or copper) in acidic (or alkaline) solution with excellent results (10,12). Therefore, in this work, we used a corrosion inhibitor for brass in a 3.5% NaCl solution.…”
