“…Application of some natural and synthetic polymers as corrosion inhibitors for aluminium in different corrosive environments has been reported by some research groups. For instance, there have been reports on the use of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP; , polyvinyl alcohol (Umoren et al, 2007a(Umoren et al, , 2007b, starch (Rosliza and WanNik, 2010), polyacrylic acid (Amin et al, 2009), gum arabic (Umoren, 2008;Umoren et al, 2006a), polyethylene glycol (PEG; Abdallah et al, 2011), polyacrylamide , 3-(10-sodium sulphonate decyloxy) aniline polymer (El-Deed and Mohamed, 2011) and iota-carrageenan natural polymer (Fares et al, 2012) as inhibitors for aluminium corrosion in acidic, neutral (sea water) and alkaline media. In some cases, their inhibition efficiency has been upgraded by addition of small amount of anions (Cl Ϫ , Br Ϫ and I Ϫ ), which functioned by exerting synergistic action (Umoren et al, 2007a(Umoren et al, , 2007bUmoren et al, 2009aUmoren et al, , 2009bUmoren, 2009a;Umoren and Solomon, 2010;Ebenso et al, 2006).…”
