Corrosion Impact Analysis on Residual Life of Structure Using Cathodic Technique and Algor Simulation Software

Abstract: Abstract. Damage to the reinforced concrete structure is mainly occurring because of two reasons either due to end of service life or due to load exceeds beyond structural capacity. Along with these two reasons degradation of material property is the one more major factor which causes the risk of failure. A concrete structure constructed in an aqueous environment get exposed to the corrosion process. Consequently, this causes the generation of crack, fragilization, a decrease of bond strength between reinforce… Show more

“…Nayak [36] ranks water tanks in their seismic performance using nondestructive testing. They found that the displacement of the water tank was reduced by 4.89%, 88.28%, and 92.89%, respectively, for FRP, damper, and bracing.…”

“…The service life of structures carries a major role in the economy of concrete structures, and various studies using different methods have been developed to determine the residual life of the structure [1]. The selection of the right pile type for foundations is one of the primary concerns to evaluating its performance in terms of time, cost and quality.…”

“…Further, improving the design efficiency and changing the traditional methods of pile production are some practical solutions for the reduction of cost in the construction of a superstructure that is about 5% to 20% of the overall project construction cost [2]. However, the degradation of material properties is one factor that causes the risk of failure [1]. This is particularly apparent in structures subjected to aggressive environments, such as piles and wharves, which are constructed in an aqueous environment.…”

“…Hence, retrofitting of these structures to improve their strength is significant and vital. Numerous techniques have been originated and applied to improve the seismic behavior of these structures (Omidinasab and Shakib 2012;Khan et al 2014;Nayak et al 2018). The main objective of this research is to assess the present condition and rehabilitate the existing damaged ESR.…”
