“…Resolved hyperfine structure was averaged according to theoretical weights, and this single averaged frequency was used. Next, we added the Fourier transform spectrometer data reported by Poynter and Margolis [54,55], by Urban and co-workers [56,57,61], the few measurements of Brown and Toth [58], and Fabian et al [59]. Only higher J data absent of more accurate data sets was taken from diode laser measurements of Jermanussen et al [60] and long path FTS measurements of Urban et al [57].…”

“…A summary of the microwave investigations of the ground state inversion spectra prior to 1975 is provided by Poynter and Kakar [48]. Infrared investigations of the m 2 band have been performed using grating spectrometers [53], Fourier-transform spectrometers [54][55][56][57][58][59][60], and tunable-diode-laser spectrometers [61][62][63]. In this paper, we report an innovative spectrometer that generates coherent radiation in the 200-1600 GHz region and its application to the ammonia molecule.…”

“…Since then, Fabian et al [37] reported FTS measurements of N 2 , O 2 and air broadenings in the m 2 R and Q branches which have a weighted average ratio of AEc m (m 2 )/c m (m 1 )ae = 1.46 (12) for N 2 and AEc m (m 2 )/c m (m 1 )ae = 1.38 (13) for O 2 for the 40 lines corresponding to our m 1 measurements. However, we do not believe these represent a systematic vibrational dependence since there are similar discrepancies between [37] and the more accurate recent m 2 measurements in [15]. Moreover, Fabian et al later reported diode laser [38] and FTS [39] measurements in better agreement with ours, yielding AEc m (m 2 )/c m (m 1 )ae = 0.96(6) for selfbroadening for 14 corresponding lines.…”

“…There have been previous measurements of pressure broadening and shifting in the m 2 band of NH 3 perturbed by different foreign gases [6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]. Fabian et al [6] measured the collisional line width in the m 2 band of NH 3 perturbed by O 2 , N 2 , and air, with a Fourier transform spectrometer.…”

“…Fabian et al [6] measured the collisional line width in the m 2 band of NH 3 perturbed by O 2 , N 2 , and air, with a Fourier transform spectrometer. Recently, Aroui et al [7] have studied selfbroadening and intensities in the m 2 and m 4 bands of NH 3 .…”
