Abstract

entitled Implant decontamination during surgical peri-implantitis treatment: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, the authors declared no potential conflicts of interest in the conduct of the study. However, co-authors E.G. Winkel and A.J. van Winkelhoff inadvertently did not disclose stock ownership in Dentaid BeNeLux B.V via their company LabOral International. The test product (0.12% chlorhexidine/0.05% cetylpyridinium chloride) and the placebo product were provided by Dentaid SL, Cerdanyola, Spain. Co-author E.G. Winkel inadvertently did not disclose stock ownership in an internet retail sales company, tandartsplein.nl., via his company Zephyr B.V. Tandartsplein.nl publicly sells hundreds of dental care products, including the two mouthrinses evaluated in the study. The other authors continue to declare no potential conflicts of interest and were not aware of the stock ownerships of co-authors EG Winkel and AJ van Winkelhoff in the above mentioned companies. The authors regret these unintentional oversights.
