Abstract:Latin is said to be a terse language, but I believe I have succeeded, in the accompanying versions, in rendering every word of Catullus' poems from twelve-syllabled to tensyllabled lines. May I add that I have lately found in a school edition of Catullus, published by Parker of Oxford in 1818, a translation of the Phasellus into Greek iambics, line for line, by Joseph Scaliger. Yours faithfully, Cam House, PHILLIMORE.
