Correlation and path analysis for yield and yield components in sunflower (Helianthus annus. L)

Abstract: Ten (10) sunflower genotypes were evaluated in a triplicated randomized complete blocked design in field for plant height, stem diameter at base, internodal length, head diameter, number of whorls head . Path analysis showed that direct effects of plant height, head diameter, 100-achene weight and oil contents were positive while direct effects of stem diameter at base, internodal length, number of fertile whorls head -1 and protein contents were negative on achene weight head -1 . This shows that selection ba… Show more

“…Furthermore, HD has greater ease of measurement in a non-destructive assessment in comparison to TAW and NAH. Studies in other cropping environments also corroborate with this result, indicating the relation between HD and YAH (Yasin & Singh, 2010;Darvishzadeh et al, 2011;Hassan et al, 2013;Tyagi & Khan, 2013;Chambó et al, 2017).…”

“…Similarly, more days-to-flower initiation and completion resulted for restorers 73-R. The range of days-to-flower initiation recorded in literature was 55 to 65 by Hassan et al (2012) and Hernández and Larsen (2013).…”

“…The range in this study for days to flower initiation is 54 to 64 days. In recorded literature, it was 55 to 65 (Hassan et al, 2012;Hernández and Larsen, 2013). The reason for variation in days for flowering initiation in studied genetic material may refer to photoperiod because different genotypes respond differently to a specific photoperiod.…”

“…The existence of difference significant in the selected genotypes of all characteristics table (3). The GCV values were less than PCV values because the genetic material in the genotypes more effects in the environmental conditions according the [25,26,27]. The characteristics estimated in this study less than 10 % coefficient of genotypic and phenotypic under spring and fall season with all Nitrogen fertilizer rates ,while the PCV and GCV were scored (13.41, 12.48), (13.75, 11.93) and (15.73, 10.50) in the fall under Three nitrogen fertilizers rate respectively .…”
