Correlation Analysis of Sleep Quality and Youth Ischemic Stroke

Abstract: Objective. To study risk factors related to ischemic stroke (IS) in youth and the influence of sleep quality on youth ischemic stroke incidence. Methods. 223 patients aged 18 to 45 years who were admitted to Puyang People's Hospital from June 2011 to February 2013 with a first-ever ischemic stroke were selected as the research cases. 158 young people with a normal physical examination were selected as the control group. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire was used to analyse the correlation… Show more

“…Hyperhomocysteinemia is well known to be associated with elevated IS risk [34]. In line with our ndings, many prior studies have con rmed elevated HCY levels to be associated with IS risk in younger patient populations [35][36][37][38], with this correlation being strongest in younger individuals [35]. The risk of IS has been shown to be roughly two-fold higher in IS patients with high HCY levels relative to patients with low HCY levels [39,40].…”

“…Each field is measured on a scale of 0 to 3, and the total score is in the range of 0–21 with a total score of 5 or higher indicating bad sleep quality. The reliability was Cronbach’s α=0.83, and the test-retest reliability was 0.8512, 13 ) . The Korean Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (K-IADL) was used to assess IADL.…”

“…Each component is measured on a scale of 0~3; and a score of 5 or above indicates bad sleep quality. The reliability was Cronbach's α=.83 and the test-retest reliability was .85 (Tang, Grace Laru, Mok, Ungvari & Wong, 2015;Zhang et al, 2014). The Occupational Questionnaire (OQ) was used to assess the subjects' pattern of activity performance as an assessment tool developed to check the subject's lifestyle through a timetable format designed to assess the daily pattern of activity performance (Smith, Kielhofner, & Watts, 1986).…”
