Correlation among Clinicopathological Parameters of Myocardial Damage in Rats Treated with Isoproterenol

Abstract: Abstract:The correlation among clinicopathological parameters of myocardial damage was investigated in rats administered a single subcutaneous dose of isoproterenol at 0 (saline), 0.04, 0.4 and 4 mg/kg. Total lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), creatine kinase (CK), and their isoenzymes (LDH-1, LDH-2 and CK-MB), as well as troponin I and tropinin T, were measured 4 h after the administration of the drug. Troponin I was determined by a chemiluminescence method using Bayer Centaur and DPC Immulyze, as well as by ELIS… Show more

“…28, 29 Our results with use of hypoxyprobe show that low-dose isoproterenol injection can induce hypoxia (myocardial ischemia) in mice ventricular cardiomyocytes within 15 min. This approach is reversible and relatively harmless compared with ligating coronary arteries, and therefore this milder form of myocardial ischemia can mimic the beginning stage of angina attack.…”

“…Cardiac troponin I (cTnI) is a sensitive and specific blood borne indicator of myocardial damage, released into the circulation in proportion to myocyte injury in both man (Antman, 2002, Sarko and Pollack, 2002) and experimental animals (Kurata et al, 2007, O'Brien et al, 2006). In these studies, the concentration of cTnI was evaluated in plasma (100 ul) obtained from the arterial catheter 60 min following the onset of SE, and at an identical time in Cont animals.…”

“…There are cardiac and skeletal muscle-specific forms of TnI and TnT, although not for TnC [7]. There is growing evidence to suggest that increases in the serum concentration of cTn may be more sensitive than histologic analysis and other objective measures of cardiac myocyte injury [8].…”
