Correction: Aberrant DNA Methylation: Implications in Racial Health Disparity

Abstract: In the Methods section, a sentence from the DNA methylation at CpG islands subsection was inadvertently excluded. The complete, correct DNA methylation at CpG islands subsection should read as follows: "Methylation of the 5'-regulatory region of the genome was analyzed by Reduced Representation Bisulfite Sequencing (RRBS) using the ABI 37370 (Applied Biosystems, Foster City, CA) with a 48 cm capillary array (Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory [CSHL] Core Facility). RRBS experiments were sequenced at an average dept… Show more

“…Although racial health inequalities are mostly attributed to socioeconomic differences, there is a growing realization that genetic and epigenetic events can also contribute to cancer incidence and clinical outcomes ( Wallace et al, 2011 ; Daly and Olopade, 2015 ). For example, there is emerging evidence linking epigenetic events including DNA methylation and microRNA (miRNA) expression to cancer disparities in breast, prostate, endometrial and colon cancers ( Mehrotra et al, 2004 ; Kwabi-Addo et al, 2010 ; Wang et al, 2012 , 2016 ; Long et al, 2013 ; Nwaneri et al, 2016 ; Hashimoto et al, 2017 ; Shiina et al, 2017 ).…”
