“…Additionally, paediatric series are extremely diverse, as varied populations comprise the data (malignant tumours, congenital pathologies, chronic infections, trauma). 7 , 12 , 13 Recently, Rousset et al 29 reported the results of treatment for immature osteomyelitis. They confirmed the efficacy of IMT in treating large bone defects in young patients.…”

“…The membrane is primarily composed of type I collagen, fibroblasts, and blood vessels (inner surface), and it secretes bone morphogenetic protein 2, vascular endothelial growth factor, core-binding factor α1, interleukin 6, collagenase-1, and other growth factors to stimulate bone defect reconstruction [4]. The technique has been shown to promote consolidation of cancellous bone graft within an induced membrane in segmental bone defects of up to 20-25 cm in length [1,5,6]. Despite the fact that the induced membrane technique was described in 1986 [14], its use in children has rarely been reported, unlike in adults.…”

“…Despite the fact that the induced membrane technique was described in 1986 [14], its use in children has rarely been reported, unlike in adults. Also, pediatric series are extremely heterogeneous, as mixed populations of patients were included in these reviews (malignant tumours, congenital pathologies, chronic infections, trauma) [1,5,9].…”
