“…There have been 7 published case reports describing the successful use of percutaneous balloon venoplasty to enable left ventricular lead placement in 15 patients [2][3][4][5][6][7][8] and it is becoming a standard technique in patients with unfavourable venous anatomy [1].…”

“…5 Balloon angioplasty for coronary vein stenosis and successful insertion of a LV lead without complication has been reported previously in a small number of cases. 5,6 Difficulty with insertion was not anticipated based on coronary venography in any of the 4 cases reported here, suggesting that preoperative coronary venography alone may be insufficient for indication of venoplasty.…”

“…The incidence of venous stenosis has been reported to be approximately 2-3.5% (3,(5)(6)(7). Venous stenosis may be due to scarring from myocardial infarction, coronary artery bypass graft surgery, previous implantation of venous leads, or ring like strictures (5,6).…”

“…Venous stenosis may be due to scarring from myocardial infarction, coronary artery bypass graft surgery, previous implantation of venous leads, or ring like strictures (5,6). Although venous angioplasty is considered to be safe and effective method to overcome venous stenosis, serious complications may ensue such as Therefore, close hemodynamic monitoring and control echocardiography should be done whenever coronary venous angioplasty is performed.…”
