Corona Charging and Thermal Sampling of Stretched Poly(vinyl Chloride)

Abstract: Corona charging and thermal poling have been used to prepare stretched and unstretched poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) electrets. Short-circuit thermally stimulated depolarization, as a function of poling parameters, has been recorded. The thermal samplingÀthermally stimulated depolarization current relaxation behavior of the stretched PVC was investigated in the frame of relaxation map analysis (RMA). The analysis revealed that stretched PVC is characterized by two compensation temperatures, indicating conformatio… Show more

“…Enthalpy-entropy compensation (EEC), indicating to any increase in enthalpy during non-covalent bonding of two molecules is often largely canceled out by a simultaneous decrease in entropy [41]. Similar behavior of enthalpyentropy compensation (EEC) behavior has been published elsewhere in various fields [42][43][44][45]. The narrow range of Gibbs free energy (ΔG) and the interdependence of enthalpy (ΔH) and entropy (ΔS) in the same system strongly indicate the effect of a kinetic compensation effect [46].…”

“…DOD values can be used to reflect the degree of compatibility between different phases of copolymers, polymer composites and polymer blends [44]. The compensation behaviour can be interpreted in the light of activation enthalpy-entropy relation, where the change in enthalpy of activation is compensated by the change in entropy of activation.…”
