Corneal dioptric power after penetrating keratoplasty.

Abstract: SUMMARY The dioptric power of the cornea (spherical equivalent) was studied in 60 eyes operated on for penetrating keratoplasty. In order to determine the possible influence of (1) (vessels, thinning) might also contribute to the final dioptric defect.

[27][28][29][30][31][32] Similar to the optical challenges of anterior lamellar corneal surgery, the deep stromal interface of DLEK surgery may be impeding visual acuity by optical interference that is independent of clinically visible interface haze.…”

“…The use of oversize donor trephines in penetrating keratoplasty (PKP) for keratoconus has been reported to produce an increase in corneal curvature, resulting in postoperative refractive outcomes that are more myopic than when same-size donor trephines are used 53 54. In a large retrospective study Jaycock et al evaluated the results of PKP in patients with keratoconus using same-size donor and recipient trephines.…”
