Corn oil improves the plasma lipoprotein lipid profile compared with extra-virgin olive oil consumption in men and women with elevated cholesterol: Results from a randomized controlled feeding trial

Abstract: Consumption of CO in a weight-maintenance, low saturated fat and cholesterol diet resulted in more favorable changes in LDL-C and other atherogenic lipids vs EVOO.

“…Corn oil is composed mainly (99% of the refined or 96% of the crude oil) of acylglycerols (mono‐, di‐ and primarily tri‐), and has 59% polyunsaturated (PUFA), 24% monounsaturated (MUFA) and only 13% saturated fatty acid (SFA) (Si et al, ).
