Abstract:Acute lung injury (ALI) and its severe manifestation, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), are characterized by uncontrolled inflammatory responses, neutrophil activation and infiltration, damage to the alveolar capillary membrane, and diffuse alveolar injury.
