Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) is expected to support platooning of vehicles, by running the control logic that computes the acceleration values of the vehicles based on their position and speed. Connectivity between vehicles and the MEC system is likely to be realized through the mobile network. However, platoons will be composed of vehicles that are customers of different co-located mobile operators, hence -in all likelihood -will also be customers of different MEC systems. In this paper, we devise and evaluate an architectural framework that realizes Platooning-as-a-Service (PlaaS) in a multi-operator MEC environment, compliant with the ETSI MEC standard: we describe the entities involved and their interactions, we release an open-source proof-of-concept implementation for the popular Simu5G simulator, and we evaluate the effect of our framework -and especially its latencies -on platoon stability.

The CARLA simulator stands out amongst available open-source simulators providing life-like rendering of vehicular scenarios. While several frameworks, such as OpenCDA [1], have extended CARLA capabilities for the evaluation of cooperative perception applications, a significant gap remains in the use of accurate communication models. To address this need, we present an extension of the ms-van3t simulation framework, based on the ns-3 simulator. It integrates CARLA's high-fidelity sensor and vehicle physics, OpenCDA's data fusion and control automation, with ns-3's advanced communication models.ms-van3t-CARLA offers a comprehensive tool for researchers working on the evaluation of the effects of vehicular cooperative perception under different communication technologies.

Dynamic Communication in Emergency Response: A Data-Driven Evaluation with the Emergency Communication Test

This research provides a data-driven assessment of dynamic communication in emergency response, highlighting important findings supported by actual data. In comparison to police officers in law enforcement situations, EMTs responded to medical crises 25% quicker, according to the response time research. When it came to communication accuracy, firemen performed at a 96% accuracy rate during fire situations, compared to a 91% accuracy rate in law enforcement circumstances. When compared to law enforcement situations, there was a 3% improvement in the completeness of information shared in fire incidents. Additionally, compared to accident situations, police officers' communication efficacy in law enforcement occurrences was 2.3% greater. These results highlight how crucial customized communication plans, data-driven insights, and technology and training integration are to maximizing dynamic communication in emergency response systems.
