Copper Oxide of Plasma-Chemical Synthesis for Doping Superconducting Materials

Abstract: Properties of nanodispersed powder copper oxide, synthesized during arc sputtering of copper in a gas mixture of low pressure oxygen, were studied. It was shown that the particles possess nanometer size and narrow size distribution. The issue of reduction, recrystallization and sintering of nanodispersed powder were discussed.

“…Artificial pinning centers were created by using CuO nanodispersed powders with a characteristic granule size below 10 nm. The CuO nanopowder was synthesized in a plasma chemical reactor in accordance with a technique described in [7,8]. The arc evaporator used in the synthesis exhibited the following characteristics: the pulse arc discharge current was 2.3 kA and the strength of the longitudinal magnetic field on the cathode surface, generated by the coil, was 80 mT.…”

“…The synthesis of CuO nanopowder was performed in a plasma-chemical reactor, described in [8][9][10][11][12]. The arc evaporator, used in the process, had the following characteristics: a current arc of 100 A and an intensity of the longitudinal magnetic field excited by a focusing coil on the surface of the cathode, of 80 A/m, with a distance between the cathode and the anode of d = 50 mm.…”

“…These methods have two disadvantages: firstly, radiation defects are nondurable; secondly, foreign impurities inside the superconductor often reduce the critical temperature. Surface decoration [6][7][8] is a new method, in which pinning centers are created only on the surface of a sample or superconducting granules. Nanoparticles of metal oxides can act as decorating elements.…”

“…Экспериментальная установка и зависимость свойств порошка от условий распыления подробно обсуждаются в [15][16][17][18] Оптические измерения проводились на спектрофотометре Perkin Elmer Lambda 950 с получением спектров пропускания. Образцы для исследования были приготовлены совместным с бромидом калия и снятыми с подложки наночастицами (в соотношении 1 : 100) прессовании таблеток диаметром 13 mm и толщиной∼ 0.55 mm.…”
