Copper nano-sol loaded woven fabrics: structure and color characterization

Abstract: Nano technology is an upcoming branch where lot of research work is being done with the intention of improving/changing properties of the materials. In this study polyester, cotton and polyester-cotton blended fabrics were coated with copper nano particles by pad-dry-cure technique. The morphology of nano-composite fabrics characterized using scanning electron microscope reveals that nanoparticles were dispersed on the fabric samples. The elemental analysis for confirming the presence of copper in the fabric s… Show more

“…The improved acid dyeability of the MI samples could be attributed to availability of dyeing sites through the conversion of primary and secondary amines of b-PEI to quaternary ammonium cations under the acidic conditions. 29,31,32 Moreover, the MI samples were plasticized and made more hydrophilic by b-PEI. This effect not only increased the free volume of the MI film but also facilitated adsorption of the dyeing solution into MI film, and allowed the dye to diffuse more easily within the film.…”

“…Application of synthesized nanoparticles on P, C and P-C blended fabrics was carried out using pad-dry-cure technique (Lab model – Two bowl padding mangle, EEC, India). Qualitative and quantitative confirmation of presence of elements in both pure and oxide state on fabrics was done using X-ray fluorescence spectrometer A1: (XRF) (EDX 800 Simadzu, Japan), characterization of which has been reported by Kanade and Patel (2017).…”

“…By this way, the textile clothing sector can cope with the ever-growing consumer demands for hygienic, protective, and active wear clothing as well as it increases potential applications and value addition. On the other hand, nanotechnology is one of the upcoming sectors where lots of research works are being done with the goal of improving/altering properties of the textile materials [5]. It is an art and science of manipulating matter in a nanoscale to create new and unique materials and products.…”
