“…Yet, it is important to look at coping among these older patients because, in so doing, one can understand more about the way in which they adapt to chronic traumatic stress. This gap in the research reflects the general trend that studies addressing coping and PTSD in the older age group are relatively few (Averill & Beck, 2000;Jones, Rapport, Hanks, Lichtenberg, & Telmet, 2003), although some efforts have recently been made to look at coping among older people suffering from PTSD following spinal cord injury (Chung, Preveza, Papandreou, & Prevezas, 2006) and exposed to technological disasters (Chung, Werrett, Easthope, & Farmer, 2004).
