Abstract:The formation of Si(II) by the comproportionation reaction between electrodeposited silicon and Si(IV) ions [Si(IV) + Si 0 ⇄ 2Si(II)] in fluoride melts has been discussed in many previous reports on the electrochemical processing of silicon.
